The Melbourne Bridal Expo 2013

Another great day again this year at The Bridal Expo….A fantastic opportunity to find something special or someone you need for your wedding day..Perhaps that might include the ‘right’celebrant.  Thanks to my wonderful daughters…Sarah and Amelia for their hard work and enthusiasm..I could not have contemplated the day without them.

The warm light of a candle…

The use of candles as part of a wedding ceremony can signify many things…a candle light in memory of someone loved and sadly missed on your wedding day..a Mum..a Dad…grandparents..or other family members and friends are acknowledged and remembered as part of your life.

In this wedding…Chris and Emma Stirrup with their daughters, Heidi and Maddison each light a taper from their own individual candle to a larger central Unity Candle ..signifying for them…the formal union of them as a family..

A winter wedding

A wedding in July …outside…optimistic you think….maybe but Stuart and Karen’s wedding at Manton’s Winery in Mainridge proved that a ceremony can be held outdoors in the middle of winter…with a positive attitude and a bit of luck !  Sure it was cold…. but there was not a cloud in the sky.

It’s not a photo shoot…..Take 2 !

Remember my comments on the invasive manner of some photographers…Well here is exactly what I am talking about.  Another gorgeous day at ‘All Smiles Cafe’, Sorrento for the wedding of Sussi and Stewart Anderson. I’m not sure Sussi and Stewart were aware…they only had eyes for each other…. but every time I looked up…there was camera lens in close proximity….and dressed for a wedding do you think ??

You can be lucky…….

Whenever I meet with couples planning a wedding outdoors, I always stress on them the importance of having a default location should the weather be awful….and I don’t blame them for being reluctant to even entertain the thought.  But nothing is guaranteed and think of all the time and energy you have invested in making your wedding gorgeous….and pouring rain and howling wind will wreck the most lovely of days.   So… hope and plan for the best ….and deal with what you don’t want to…if you must.

Having said that…isn’t this a gorgeous location and can you believe the weather for the wedding of Amy and Peter Blackburn last August.  I thought they were extremely optimistic …hoping for a wedding outdoors at that time of year…but the day was mild and the weather unbelievable.  I have another wedding at Riverstone in November this year….Let’s keep our fingers crossed !!!!

I meet some gorgeous young couples !

Sally and Evan MacDonald

I do….one of the joys in my role as a Marriage Celebrant is getting to know some lovely brides and grooms.  Pictured here are Sally and Evan MacDonald who were married at   ‘Sails on the Bay’ at Elwood.  When I first met Sally and Evan, their Kings Charles Cavavlier puppy…. ‘Macey’ was the newest addition to the family.  I have to admit it was love a first sight for Macey and I !!  Sally and Evan’s wedding was a warm and sultry summer’s afternoon and we felt that we were almost right on the beach….not bikini in sight from the wedding guests though !!

It’s not a photo shoot !

I met a gorgeous photographer a couple of weeks ago at the wedding of Vanessa and Steve Cahill.  Sarah Wood .. ‘’ .. was so unobtrusive and gentle in her manner with Vanessa and Steve.  She got all the shots she needed but never once did I feel that she was invasive to the ceremony nor to family and friends present.  I have on other occasions….. looked up during the giving of a couple’s vows to find a camera lens just inches from my face or worse still…have experienced a  photographer lying down in front of the wedding party just trying to get that ‘right’ angle.  Talk to your photographer about your expectations of their role and behaviour for your wedding day.  It is not only about a great photo….it is also about a great ceremony !!

Steve and Vanessa Cahill

Oh..the places I go !

Helen and Ryan Pearce

One of the loveliest aspects of the work that I do is having the opportunity to visit so many of the gorgeous wedding venues and locations on offer.  In the past couple of weeks, I  have celebrated weddings at ‘Stones of the Yarra Valley; ‘ The Willows’ and ‘Sails on the Bay’ at Elwood…all of the venues special in their own unique way.  I’ve heard a lot about ‘Stones of the Yarra Valley’ and it did not disappoint. The lovely couple pictured are : Helen Ryan Pearce.  Obviously a fan of ‘Sex and the City’, Helen…looking beautiful, stepped out of the limousine showing peeps of her peacock blue  ‘Manolo Blahniks’

A Day At The Bridal Expo

What a fantastic day!

Sarah and I met lots of lovely brides, grooms, sisters, mothers and friends.  We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and hearing snippets of your wedding plans.

There was a lot to think about and a lot to enjoy, and I’m sure at times you were overwhelmed by all the lovely options for your wedding.

I hope chatting with Sarah and I gave you some insight into who I am and what I can bring to your day.

For those of you who decided I was the one for you or who expressed an interest me – I’m looking forward to getting to know you better and will be in touch shortly.

If we missed talking with you because it was busy – drop me an email or give me a call, I’d be delighted to chat.

Warming of the Rings

Your wedding day has arrived and all of your family and friends are dressed up in their best !!  They come with lot of good wishes and warm thoughts for your future together.  A lovely way to involve all in your day is to pass the rings from hand to hand amongst everyone whilst the ceremony is underway.  As each holds the rings in the palm of their hand… their love for you both and their hopes  for your future are imparted into the very substance of each ring.  And they do return !!  As we reach the moment in the ceremony where rings are exchanged…they miraculously come forward…’warmed’ by the love of everyone present.
